Ask supporters about a title and they describe a pub, a living room, a phone call to a parent, a street in north London that would not clear. The football is the reason; the people are the memory.

That is why keepsakes attach to celebrations so strongly. A ticket stub, a scarf, an unopened bottle on a shelf — each one is a bookmark in somebody's life, not a piece of merchandise.
